The Heart Behind The Assembly

A life met by Jesus.
A ministry born from encounter.

This is the personal story behind Unveiled Assembly of Christ Jesus—the journey, the encounter, and the convictions that shaped the ministry.

01

My Testimony

My journey with Jesus Christ did not begin with faith. Growing up, although my mother exposed us to church from time to time, I did not believe in God. I was an atheist. At seventeen years old, my life changed through a devastating car accident that resulted in the loss of sight in my right eye. In the midst of that accident, I was separated from my physical body and confronted with the reality of death. It was there that I encountered Jesus Christ.

Unable to physically speak, I remember my thoughts becoming louder than words. As I became aware of an overwhelming presence, I asked within myself, “Who is this?” Then I heard the name Jesus as though it were being spoken in every language at once. During that encounter, the Lord revealed things concerning my life and what was ahead of me. Although I would lose sight in one eye, He told me He would restore my sight in another way. In the middle of the chaos, I heard the words, “Peace, be still.” When I regained awareness at the scene of the accident, an unusual calm filled me. I had encountered God.

Yet encountering God did not immediately mean that I surrendered to Him. I could no longer deny His existence, but I still wrestled with Him. I was angry, confused, and full of questions about why my life had taken this turn. I knew of God, but I had not yet placed my faith in God. Around the age of eighteen, I met a young man of faith who shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with me. During that season, I also experienced spiritual possession. Yet even there, I encountered the overwhelming power, mercy, and love of Jesus Christ. For a second time, Jesus spared my life.

Still, I did not want to give my life to God simply because someone told me to. I wanted to know Him for myself, so I began to study. As I opened Scripture with an open heart, the God I encountered in His Word began to make sense of the God I had encountered before I truly knew the Bible. I discovered His character, His love, His grace, His patience, and His mercy. Eventually, my questions became surrender. I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and answered the call He placed on my life during that encounter at seventeen: to serve.

Today, I have devoted my life to serving Jesus Christ and His people as He has served us. My desire is to share Christ through both encounter and understanding, helping people not only experience His presence, but truly know who He is. My testimony is not simply that I gave my life to Jesus. He gave His life for me, and I accepted it.

02

Why I Chose Jesus Christ

Though I had a great encounter with Jesus Christ, the encounter alone was not what made me choose Him as my Lord and Savior. Coming from atheism, I had many questions about God, His existence, His power, humanity, suffering, and the brokenness we see in the world. I needed more than an experience. I needed understanding.

As I began studying Scripture with an open heart, I found answers to many of the questions that once fueled my unbelief. Most importantly, the character of Jesus revealed throughout Scripture was consistent with the character I had personally encountered. I came to know Him not only through experience, but through truth.

I chose Jesus because the more I sought to know Him, the more I found Him to be consistent with His Word. This is why I believe knowing Jesus accurately is essential to testifying of Him accurately.

What We Believe

At The Assembly, our beliefs are centered on Jesus Christ, His finished work, and the identity we have received through Him.

Jesus Christ

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, born of a virgin, who lived without sin and gave His life on the cross for humanity. We believe He rose again and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and His name is above every name.

Scripture: Matthew 1:23 • Hebrews 4:15 • Philippians 2:8–11 • Hebrews 12:2

Salvation

We believe salvation is an eternal promise established and kept by Jesus Christ. Salvation is not earned or maintained through human behavior, but received through Christ and His finished work. We believe salvation establishes a new identity in Him, secured by His promise rather than our own ability to preserve ourselves.

Scripture: John 10:27–29 • Ephesians 2:8–9 • Hebrews 10:14 • Romans 8:38–39

The Triune God

We believe in one eternal God revealed in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We receive and honor the fullness of who God has revealed Himself to be.

Scripture: Matthew 28:19 • 2 Corinthians 13:14 • Matthew 3:16–17

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the true Word of God, given for His people and profitable for teaching, correction, instruction, and spiritual maturity. Scripture provides a trustworthy testimony of God's character and serves as a dependable reference for the life we live unto Him.

Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16–17 • 2 Peter 1:20–21 • Psalm 119:105

Spiritual Gifts

We believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit remain active today, including prophecy, teaching, healing, deliverance, tongues, and other spiritual gifts. We believe these gifts are expressions of God's love, mercy, power, and glory through His people, demonstrating that Jesus Christ is still alive and active among us.

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:4–11 • Acts 2:17–18 • Romans 12:6–8 • 1 Corinthians 14:1

The Church

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, the gathering and community of those who are in Him. The Church is not ultimately a building, location, or event, but a people who share an identity and life in Christ.

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:27 • Ephesians 2:19–22 • Ephesians 4:4–6

Repentance

We believe repentance begins with a change of mind, a turning from false conclusions and returning to the truth revealed in Christ. As our minds are renewed toward God and our identity in Him, our lives progressively mature and our behavior increasingly reflects the Christ we have come to know.

Scripture: Romans 12:2 • Acts 2:38 • 2 Corinthians 3:18 • Colossians 3:9–10

Our Approach to Scripture

We believe Scripture should be studied within its proper context. This includes examining the original languages in which the biblical texts were written, particularly Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, when necessary to better understand the meaning of words, phrases, and passages within their historical and literary context. Our desire is not simply to read words from Scripture, but to understand as accurately as possible what was being communicated and how it reveals the character and purposes of God.

Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:15 • Nehemiah 8:8 • Acts 17:11
